Prepare Thyself: Feb. 9-15

(FYI: This is the first of what will become a recurring weekly feature on the blog.)

Ok then. Last week was pretty darn good week for the teams, who combined to go 9-2. Both U of M hockey and the Red Wings carried the torch, going a combined 6-0 and getting some big wins along the way. Michigan hoops was also a cause for hope, as they put together and impressive victory over Penn State and hung tough with #1 UConn on the road.

As for this week, here’s the snapshot:

Michigan Basketball

  • Tuesday, February 10 vs. Little Brother – 7:00 PM (ESPN)
  • Sunday, February 15 at Northwestern – 3:00 PM (Big Ten Network)

Michigan Hockey

  • Friday, February 13 vs. Nebraska-Omaha – 7:35 PM
  • Saturday, February 14 vs. Nebraska-Omaha – 8:05 PM (FSN Detroit)

Red Wings

  • Tuesday, February 10 at Nashville – 8:00 PM (FS-D+)
  • Thursday, February 12 vs. Minnesota – 7:30 PM (FSN Detroit)
  • Friday, February 13 at Columbus – 7:00 PM (FSN Detroit)
  • Sunday, February 15 vs. Colorado – 5:00 PM (FSN Detroit)

Pistons

  • Tuesday, February 10 at Chicago – 8:30 PM (FSN Detroit)
  • Wednesday, February 11 vs. Atlanta – 7:30 PM (FSN Detroit)

Game of the Week

340x1Tuesday, February 10 vs. Little Brother – 7:00 PM (ESPN)

Yes, it has been a bit lopsided on the hardwood recently. But this is still a rivalry game, and has the potential to be a good one. Sparty is on top of the Big Ten right now, while the Wolverines have shown signs of an upswing of late. Look for an intense battle in this one, with the Wolverines needing to play one of their best games of the season to have a chance to win. Maybe the Wolverines should roll Steve Kampfer out before the game to give everyone a pep talk…

Non-Michigan/Detroit Game You Shouldn’t Miss

San Jose vs. Boston – Tuesday, February 10

The top teams in the East and West will get together tomorrow night to duke it out. Look for an intense, physical, entertaining game with a strong playoff feel to it. I like Boston in this one (Sorry Jennifer), as they have been tough to beat all season, and especially at home. (And yes, I’m aware this is on at the same time as UM/MSU and will be flipping back and forth between the two.)
